Description: *
Black Spicy Chai Tea. Not your typical American chai, this hot and spicy black tea blend has its origin in Indian Ayurvedic teachings, known for their positive effects on mind and body.

Ingredients: black tea, aniseed, ginger pieces, cinnamon pieces, black pepper, chicory root, cloves, flavoring.

Must be enjoyed with milk which cuts the spiciness and creates a wonderfully aromatic and tasty drink.

Use 1-2 level teaspoon per 6 oz cup. Heat water until boiling. Steep for 3 minutes. Try with milk and sugar.

"This tea was OK. A bit to much pepper for my taste. I think the Rooibos Chai was must smoother."

***** Unexpectedly Good 11/19/2007 07:29
"When I smelled this tea out of the back I thought it was going to be way too spicy for my taste, but then I steeped some and I was surprised....it's a perfect chai tea. It has a rather smooth flavor for a chai."

***** Awesome! 09/01/2007 15:58
"Years ago, a Lebanese friend served me a mystery tea, so fragrant and spicy and mysterious...Until Dragonwater's Spicy Chai. This is IT! And it's great--nutty, fragrant, full of flavors and spices. Great with a little milk & sugar on a cool day."

***** A surprise disappointment 05/23/2007 00:08
"I desperately wanted to fall in love with a DW chai blend as they're so reasonably priced and all of their other teas are so quality. However, I really lament that this chai doesn't have cardamom. I usually add my own pods to this mix, as well as additional clove, cinnamon, and even allspice. Mixing it with Black Cinnamon Cocoa is also a rewarding compliment. But this chai just didn't stand on its own as well as I had hoped. It's still moderately satisfying and reasonably priced, but I'll use it as a base for my more pronounced concoctions."

***** Like home-made! 03/31/2007 09:19
"Very good, full-bodied tea. I did notice the lack of cardamom, which to me, is the most important spice. The black tea itself was a bit lost in all the clove and cinnamon, but I was very happy with the abundance of black pepper and ginger. I can always add a little cardamom, and this is better brewed double-strength for the hard-core chai enthusiast. I will be buying more!"

"Just received this and tried it this morning. It was almost like drinking a cup of spiced cider without the apple juice. I thought the clove was a little overpowering but I plan on trying this with a little apple juice to sweeten it and see how it comes out. A good tea to start the morning with."

***** Love Chai but not this spicy. 01/12/2007 10:28
"I love chai and have tried all of the varieties, however this particular blend is too spicy for me. I did enjoy 1/2 of the regular chai (no longer available) and 1/2 the spicy chai for the perfect taste!"

***** My absolute favorite! 12/08/2006 06:23
"For the last few years, I have been a dedicated earl grey drinker. I even abandoned milk and sugar. This chai is warm, spicy, smooth and I love the ritual of adding a little milk and sweetener. A perfect winter tea that I now have every morning!"

***** perfect for the cooler weather 11/26/2006 16:02
"This tea is ideal for the cooler fall and winter months - spicy, flavorful and warming. Add a little milk and sweetener to smooth it out and it is a wonderful way to warm up a cold day!"
