Description: *
Formosa Oolong (Organic) Tea. Full-leaf oolong tea from the island of Formosa.
Oolong (black dragon) is the name for semi-fermented tea. After rolling, the tea is allowed to ferment only until the edges of the leafs start to turn brown. The tea is then fired which arrests the fermenting process and captures the interesting character associated with Oolong tea. In Taiwan, producing oolong tea involves highly specialized skills in the control of the withering, oxidation and firing. A slight variance in any of these gives each variety a distinctive aroma, flavor, color and finish.
The best Oolongs come from Taiwan (Formosa) where the character of short-fired oolongs has been described as peachlike with a refreshing fruity herbaceous character whereas long-fired oolongs take on bakey notes with rich amber liquids. This tea falls into the latter category.
It is worth noting that in Taiwan, the making of oolong tea is regarded as a precious art that requires years of training. From the nursing of a seedling, to planting, to nourishing the bushes, to properly selecting the best time to pluck the leaves, the husbandry of the tea farmer is a legacy passed down from many generations. It is felt that only the application of years of dedicated study and practice, combined with the unique character of Taiwan tea leaves, can provide the exceptional quality oolong teas that have made the island famous for its teas.
Use 1 level teaspoon per 6 oz cup. Heat water until steaming. Steep for 2-3 minutes.
Also available in our convenient 1 oz Iced Tea Pouches to make 2 quarts of tea (4 pouches per package to make 2 gallons or 8 quarts of tea). Select the 'Iced Tea (4)' option. To brew iced tea, add 1 iced tea pouch to 1 quart of boiling water. Steep for the time listed. Pour tea over a 2 quart pitcher full of ice. Add sugar to taste. |

"Since quiting coffee, this has been my favorite morning pick-me-up. It has a simple smooth taste. It is exactly how I always imagined high quality oriental tea should taste like. "

"I also like Ti Quan Yin, but I have brought different strenghts of that from different places, when I got this I thought ...not going to be impressed, but my husband and I both enjoyed it, I used to drink this when we lived in Asia and I forgot about its taste, It is lighter that Ti Quan Yin, but it has for me an enjoyable flavour for the morning, I would probalby take it again"

"I normally get my teas from Teavana, but I saw this site and I liked the fact that I can try samples so this was one and I liked it. It was better warm. I am new to tea so I cant say much else than I enjoyed it. Although Roasted Yerba Mate I fell in love with!"

"Formosa Oolong is simply a great tea. After a workout, after dinner or during my night shift in the hospital it calms the nerves and helps me relax. Also great for your health and helps reduce the risks of illness associated with the stress of everyday life.`"

"I usually only drink green tea and herbal teas as I don't like the taste of many other teas. I started drinking this tea in conjunction with the yerba mate tea for weight loss (which I was very sceptical about) and have lost an average of a pound a day for about a week and a half. I drink about two cups or more of each tea. This tea is better than any diet pill or anti-depressant. Even without the weight loss I would drink this tea daily. It has also cleared up my skin, etc., etc. Great quality! Great value! And amazingly fast shipping. Great customer service too. Thank you Dragonwater."

"A lovely smooth mellow oolong tea. Very complex in flavor yet simple in aftertaste. A perfect example of what a great oolong should be."

"My first oolong, not sure what to expect, it tasted like a blend of black and green tea, leaning towards black. "

"I was not much of a tea drinker... but this is some good stuff. I got in because 3 of my friends lost weight drinking it. I have lost about 8 lbs so far and love the tea (it's been about 2 months). I drink 2 cups every day and still enjoy each cup. I don't really like it when it gets cold though, tastes way different. I will continue to buy it. "

"This tea and a little jasmine would resemble your typical chinese restaurant tea - not that there is anything wrong with that. I prefer the complexity of the higher quality formosa's."

My son's favorite

"I am new to oolong, and this is just the fourth variety I have sampled. The first night I tried this, I didn't like it at all. I think it just wasn't what I expected, because the others have been darker and more "smokey". Tonight I tried it again, and liked it a lot more. My son usually drinks pu-erh, and thinks this is great. I will probably drink it occasionally, and will order more for him."
